A movie adaptation of my favorite musical, Les Misérables, is coming this Christmas. I don’t know what to feel. I’m a bit skeptical about any movie adaptation for any musical in general, but I’m even more dubious about this one, especially when I saw the all-star cast line-up (Anne Hathaway as Fantine? REALLY?). Although, I quite expected the producers to get Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, because her voice really suits the role, and of course no one else can play the part of Madame Thénardier better than Helena Bonham Carter, in my opinion. Other than the disappointing choice of casting Hathaway, I’m also disappointed that they chose Hugh Jackman for Jean Valjean—I don’t know how his profile can embody the multi-faceted, rags-to-riches personality and narrative of that character. Russell Crowe is alright, I guess, but of course I still prefer the Geoffrey Rush portrayal of Javert from the 1998 movie adaptation.

I still really want to watch this though. I just hope it gives justice to the best musical of all time!

I will write in words of fire. I will write them on your skin. I will write about desire. Write beginnings, write of sin. You’re the book I love the best, your skin only holds my truth, you will be a palimpsest lines of age rewriting youth. You will not burn upon the pyre. Or be buried on the shelf. You’re my letter to desire: And you’ll never read yourself. I will trace each word and comma As the final dusk descends, You’re my tale of dreams and drama, Let us find out how it ends. -Neil GaimanTransformed into artwork and lettering by David Mack.Originally reblogged from Patty.

Commonly banned books throughout history. Also known as some of my most favorite books of all time.

Sounds even better when heard in person :)

You see, this guy, this guy’s in love with you
Yes I’m in love
I love you the way I do
When you smile, I can tell we know each other very well

How can I show you?
I plan, I got to know you ‘cause I heard some talk
They say you think I’m fine,
Tell me now, is it so?
Don’t let me be the last to know.

My hands are shaking,
Don’t let my heart keep breaking
Say you’re in love, in love with this guy

And our minds were meant to sail
Take a rest from our thoughts
Take a break from this world
And we’ll feel miles away
From the places that we used to be.

One of my favorite episodes from one of my favorite TV shows of all time. Reblogging this because law school has made me realize the value of time…and how I don’t have much of it anymore. Lol.
